Our History
1991
Since 2012 the company has been managed by Daniel Yu and Kent Yu, second generation contractors.
In 1991, Mr. Yu Seng Kwee and Madam Sharon Chim, parents of Daniel and Kent, founded the family business as a general contractor specializing in industrial construction projects. They registered Yu Construction as a partnership, and the family business continued with Mr Daniel completing a master’s degree in business management and Mr. Kent completing a Double Degree in Quantity Surveying and Chemical Engineering.
Yu Construction quickly earned a reputation for prioritizing quality and service. Initially focusing on the furniture manufacturing industry, the company soon expanded into the retail, machinery, and property sectors due to growing demand. Over time, the company broadened its scope to include all aspects of warehousing construction, partnering with various clients, including private developers.
2012 - 2022
In 2012, the founders established Yu Construction Sdn. Bhd. to solidify the company's presence. Subsequently, several subsidiaries were formed to facilitate the business expansion. Between 2012 and 2022, the company was awarded and completed more than 70 projects, ranging from RM800,000 to over RM60 million. Notably, in 2013, the company undertook one of its largest projects, constructing a 9-floor hostel and a 170,000 square foot warehouse.
Since 2012, Yu Construction has enjoyed steady growth, building lasting relationships with clients by maintaining high service standards and a reputation for quality. A long-standing relationship with Supermax Glove led to a second project in 2020 and a third in 2021. The company continued to expand, completing a 261,000 square foot warehouse for TSWW Logistics Hub Sdn. Bhd. and a 180,000 square foot warehouse for Encompass Industries Sdn. Bhd. respectively in 2020 and 2021.
Since 2021, Yu Construction has been actively involved in Green Building projects, completing them based on the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and GBI rating systems. Additionally, since 2020, the company has implemented the use of sustainable construction materials in all its projects.
2023 - 2024
In 2024, Yu Construction became a certified ISO management system (ISO 9001:2015) company. The company continues to grow and expand and recognizing the need for strategic management and operational expansion, the directors made the decision to establish YSK Group as a central entity.
Yu Construction has earned a reputation for excellence, becoming one of Malaysia’s trusted construction companies in Klang Valley, winning multiple awards for projects worth over RM20 million. The company’s vision for the future includes establishing an Industrial Park in the Klang Valley to foster an environment conducive to the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.
